Assumption Weekly Message

Week of October 25, 2020

Hello Assumption Family,

This Sunday is the 6th Sunday of Luke.  On this Sunday we recall Luke account of the healing of the Gadarene demoniac.  I always find it fitting that this reading falls towards the of October when the secular world celebrates Halloween.

As Christians we must remember the seriousness of the constant attacks of the evil one. By His exercising of the demons we also understand God has authority over the evil one and we should cling to Him in our times of temptation while avoiding what is evil.

This Monday is the feast of St. Demetrios the Myrrh-flowing. Services will be held at St. George 8:30am Orthros ~9:30am Liturgy. Happy names day to those celebrating their feast day Monday, and may St. Demetrios always intercede to God for us!

This Thursday we are having a parish clean-up day.  We will be raking leaves to help keep up the beautiful grounds we have.  Any one interested can join us at 9:30am.  Don’t forget to bring a rake or leaf blower.

Please save the date: Sunday November 15th we will be having our fall general assembly.  We will hold it in the church immediately following Diving Liturgy.  For those unable to attend in person there will be a Zoom link to log in virtually to the assembly. Agenda and 2021 Budget will be sent out in the coming week/s.

Our fall food festival is Friday and Saturday November 6th and 7th! Due to the continued COVID-19 concerns and protocols this festival will also be drive thru only. Simply place your order and pick up time during check out.

We have already begun taking orders and you can place yours today by visiting our festival page at: www.assumptiongreekfest.com.  We are only 2 weeks away so don’t delay in placing your orders and spreading the news about the drive thru festival.

If you are interested in becoming a festival sponsor you can make a donation through the ordering site.  If you would like to volunteer to help during the festival contact Tracey Theofilis.
To make this festival successful consider the following:

May God bless and keep us,
Fr. Thomas
